Storing Without The Drama

About Me

Storing Without The Drama

When you are in the middle of a move, the last thing you need is additional hassles, which is one of the reasons I started looking for great storage units in my area. I wanted to be able to unload the things that I didn't want into a unit, lock up the space, and walk away. After looking around for the right storage facility, I was able to find a great spot that I felt confident about. It has been really neat to see how much of a difference great storage has made in my life, and I know that it can help you too.

How To Get Ready For Packing Services From Your Mover

One of the best services a moving company offers is packing your things for you. Packing is often difficult if you don't have a lot of experience moving because your expensive items can be damaged if you don't have the right supplies and wrap things properly. When you have a house full of expensive furnishings, it is worth the cost to let professionals pack your things for you and it takes a lot of stress off of you too. Below are a few things you'll want to do to get ready for the packers.

Throw Out Things You Don't Want Packed

When the packers come in, they box up everything they see just like they find it. They don't make judgment calls on whether something is trash or whether it needs to be packed. So, if you have trash in your cans, it will probably get packed up and moved along with your other things. Even though you won't be the one packing, it's still a good idea to sweep through your house a few days before the movers arrive and throw out things you don't want or collect clothing and other items you want to donate and get them out of the house before packing day.

Save Items You'll Need

You'll also want to save a few things so they'll be on hand, such as a change of clothing and personal items. The packers will probably come the day before the move, so anything you'll need the next day or the first day after arriving in your home should be set aside so the packers don't box it up by mistake. You may even want to put the items in suitcases and place the suitcases in your car so you can be sure you can get to the things you need.

Clean The Refrigerator And Freezer In Advance

One thing the packers won't move is a refrigerator full of food. You don't want to empty it the day of the move or it will probably have a bad odor when you open it at your new home. Instead, get rid of the food in your freezer and refrigerator a few days before moving day so you can clean them out and leave the doors open to air out odors before they are sealed shut for the move. Food that is in boxes and cans can be boxed and moved, but perishable items won't be allowed on the moving truck so you have to get rid of them in beforehand.

Be sure to find out what services come with the packing and moving company. You'll want to know if you're responsible for dismantling your bed or furniture. Most likely, you can leave your home as you normally do and the packers will take care of everything. They'll pack your clothing and securely wrap your dishes, lamps, and other valuables. You can simply oversee the process and enjoy a stress-free move. Contact a moving service, like M Dyer & Sons Inc, to learn more.
